Booked the cheapest Saver fare from Sydney to Dubbo and my bag came in at 20 kg, five kilos over the 15 kg allowance. REX charges 5 dollars 50 per excess kilogram so I paid 27 dollars 50 at check-in. Next time I will either pack lighter or pay a bit extra for the Flex fare which gives you 23 kg up front.

Flew on a Saab 340 turboprop and the carry-on sizer is actually enforced because the overhead bins are so small. My roller bag was 48 x 34 x 25 cm which is the exact limit and it barely fit. The 7 kg combined limit for both the bag and personal item means you cannot bring much, but the gate staff were friendly and just put my extra bag in the hold at no extra cost.
Travelled with my baby on a Flex ticket to Broken Hill. The infant on lap gets 10 kg of checked baggage split across two items, so I used it for the pram and a car seat. Both counted towards the 10 kg limit and there was no extra charge. The 23 kg adult Flex allowance on top was plenty for my own luggage.
