Recent Traveller Feedback
Flew Nadi to Sydney on Value fare with a 55 x 40 x 23 cm rollaboard weighing 6.8 kg plus a laptop bag. The gate agent weighed the cabin bag on the scale but did not check the personal item separately. It fit under the seat without any issues. The 7 kg limit is strictly enforced at Nadi airport so I packed light to stay well under the limit.
I booked the cheapest Lite fare from Auckland to Nadi and brought a rolling carry-on plus a backpack. At the gate they pulled me aside and said my carry-on was too big for the Lite fare allowance. I had to pay NZD 130 right there to check it into the hold. It was way more than if I had just upgraded to Value fare or added a bag online ahead of time. Now I always double check what is included in the fare before booking the cheapest option.
130 NZD
Travelled with our 8 month old on a domestic Fiji Link flight from Nadi to Suva. We gate checked our collapsible stroller right at the aircraft door completely free of charge. It did not count toward our regular baggage allowance at all. The staff were very helpful with families. We were on Value fare so we also had one 15 kg checked bag included.

How much checked baggage comes with each Fiji Airways fare?
Baggage allowance depends on your fare type. The Value fare includes one checked piece weighing up to 30 kg on international routes.
Comfort and Plus fares both include two checked pieces of 30 kg each on international flights.
Lite fares do not include any free checked baggage.
Business class passengers get two checked bags of 30 kg each on most routes, or three bags when flying to or from the United States and Canada.
Domestic Fiji Link flights have lower limits, with 15 kg per piece on Value fares and a maximum linear size of 115 cm.
What is the gate fee for carry-on bags on Fiji Airways?
If your cabin bag does not meet the size or weight limit and you are asked to check it at the boarding gate, you will be charged a gate fee.
The fee varies by route. For example, flights from New Zealand cost NZD 130 per bag, flights from Australia cost AUD 130, and flights from Fiji to Australia or New Zealand cost FJD 130.
Flights to and from the United States and Canada have higher gate fees of around USD 150 and CAD 200 respectively.
It is always cheaper to add baggage online before your flight than to pay at the gate.

A small laptop bag or purse counts as your complimentary personal item in addition to your main cabin bag.
The personal item must weigh no more than 4 kg and fit under the seat in front of you.

A garment bag up to 185 cm total dimensions and walking aids such as crutches are also allowed as extra complimentary items.
What is the baggage allowance for infants on Fiji Airways?
Infants under two years old traveling on an adult's lap receive one checked bag of up to 10 kg on international flights, plus one collapsible stroller.
On domestic Fiji Link flights, infants do not get a free checked bag but still get one free stroller.
Babies do not receive a separate hand luggage allowance, but the accompanying adult may bring an extra 3 kg of cabin items for the infant such as nappies and baby food.
The collapsible stroller can be taken all the way to the aircraft door where it will be gate-checked.
