Recent Traveller Feedback
Booked the cheapest Lite fare on SmartWings from Prague to Palma de Mallorca and was surprised that there is no free personal item included — you only get the 8 kg cabin bag. I had to stuff my laptop into my rolling carry-on because my small backpack would have counted as a second piece. Definitely worth upgrading to Plus if you need both a bag and a personal item.
Flew SmartWings Plus from Vienna to Tenerife with one checked suitcase of 22 kg plus the 3 kg personal item and my 8 kg cabin bag. Everything fit perfectly for a two-week beach holiday. The 40 x 30 x 15 cm personal item was just right for my purse and travel documents at the airport.
Upgraded to SmartWings business class for my long flight from Prague to Cancun and paid an extra 2500 CZK for the privilege. The two checked bags of 32 kg each were incredibly generous for a three-week trip, plus two cabin bags of 8 kg each. Priority boarding and lounge access made the extra cost well worth it for such a long journey.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do you get with the SmartWings Lite fare?
The Lite fare is the cheapest SmartWings ticket and only includes one standard cabin bag weighing up to 8 kg with maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 23 cm.
There is no free personal item included with the Lite fare, so any small bag or backpack counts against your single cabin bag allowance.
Checked baggage is also not included and must be purchased separately, either during booking or later through the manage booking section.
Does the Plus fare include a personal item and checked bag?
Yes, the Plus fare includes both a personal item and one checked bag in addition to the standard 8 kg cabin bag.
The personal item can weigh up to 3 kg with maximum dimensions of 40 x 30 x 15 cm and must fit under the seat in front of you.
You also receive one free checked bag weighing up to 23 kg with a total linear measurement of 158 cm, which is standard for a medium suitcase.
What is the business class baggage allowance on SmartWings?
SmartWings business class passengers enjoy a much more generous allowance across both cabin and checked baggage.
You can bring two cabin bags of up to 8 kg each plus the same 3 kg personal item of 40 x 30 x 15 cm, giving you plenty of space for work gear on longer flights.
Business class also includes two free checked bags of up to 32 kg each, which is very generous for leisure or long-haul holiday travel.
How heavy can the personal item be on SmartWings?
The personal item on SmartWings Plus, Flex and business class fares has a strict weight limit of 3 kg and maximum dimensions of 40 x 30 x 15 cm.
It must fit completely under the seat in front of you and is intended for small items like a handbag, laptop bag or small backpack.
The Lite fare does not include any personal item allowance at all, so every passenger on that fare only gets the single cabin bag.
Is SmartWings strict about carry-on baggage at the gate?
SmartWings can be quite strict about carry-on limits especially on busy holiday flights, and gate agents do use bag sizers to check dimensions from time to time.
If your bag looks obviously too big or too heavy they may weigh it and can force you to check it at the gate for a higher fee than pre-booking.
It is always a good idea to weigh and measure your bags at home before you travel so you avoid any unexpected charges at the airport.
