Flew Shenzhen Airlines economy from Shenzhen to Beijing and the 20 kg weight concept allowance worked well for my business trip. I packed one checked suitcase of 19 kg and had just enough space for samples and documents. Since domestic routes use total weight you can bring multiple smaller bags as long as the combined total stays under 20 kg.
Travelled business class from Guangzhou to Shanghai and really liked having two carry-on bags of 8 kg each. I had my rolling cabin bag plus a laptop briefcase and both fit easily in the overhead bin. Priority boarding meant I did not have to fight for space even on a full flight.
