Recent Traveller Feedback
Booked the cheapest Economy Basic fare from Moscow to Saint Petersburg and did not realise it comes with zero free checked baggage. I had to pay 3500 rubles at the airport for my 20 kg suitcase. Next time I will pay a little extra for the Standard fare or pack everything into the 10 kg cabin bag and my 5 kg personal item.
3500 RUB
Flew S7 Business class from Novosibirsk to Sochi and really liked the 15 kg hand luggage limit. I travel with a lot of camera gear and a laptop so the extra 5 kg compared to economy makes a big difference. The bag still has to fit the 55 x 40 x 23 cm sizer but the weight limit is the most generous among Russian airlines.
I was worried my large duffel bag would be too big for S7 but their checked luggage limit is 203 cm by sum of three dimensions instead of the usual 158 cm. That is a lot more room and my oversized sports bag fit comfortably within the limit at 23 kg. Great for people travelling with bulky equipment or soft-sided luggage.

Frequently Asked Questions
How strict is S7 Airlines with carry-on weight and size?
Economy class passengers may bring one cabin bag weighing up to 10 kg with maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 23 cm.
Business class passengers get a higher limit of 15 kg for the same bag size.
S7 uses official sizers at check-in and the gate, so staying within the published dimensions and weight is recommended.
Does every S7 Airlines fare include a free checked bag?
No, the Economy Basic fare does not include any free checked luggage and you only get hand baggage.
Economy Standard, Plus and Flexible fares all include one checked bag of up to 23 kg.
If you book the cheapest Basic fare you can still add a bag online or at the airport for an extra charge.
What is the Business Class baggage allowance on S7 Airlines?
Business Flexible passengers receive two checked bags of up to 32 kg each, which is more generous than most European airlines.
In the cabin you get one piece of hand luggage weighing up to 15 kg, which is 5 kg more than the economy limit.
Business travellers also enjoy priority check-in and priority baggage delivery at the airport.
What is the maximum size for a checked suitcase on S7 Airlines?
Every checked bag on S7 Airlines must stay within 203 cm when you add length, width and height together.
This linear limit is larger than the 158 cm standard used by many other airlines, so bigger duffels and soft-sided bags often still fit.
Bags weighing between 23 kg and 32 kg in economy count as heavy pieces and carry an additional fee.
Can I bring a personal item on top of my carry-on with S7 Airlines?
Yes, every passenger is allowed one additional personal item such as a handbag or briefcase weighing up to 5 kg in addition to the main cabin bag.
Small free items also include a coat or wrap, an umbrella, walking sticks or crutches, reading material and baby food for the flight.
The personal item has to fit under the seat in front of you and does not need to fit the overhead bin sizer.
