Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between weight concept and piece concept on Qatar Airways?

The weight concept gives you a total weight limit for all your checked bags combined.
The piece concept gives you a set number of free checked bags, each with its own weight limit.
Flights to and from Africa and the Americas use the piece concept.
All other routes use the weight concept.

Which Qatar Airways economy fare should I choose?

Lite fare includes the least checked baggage and works best for light travelers who mainly travel with carry-on.
Classic fare adds more checked baggage and is the most popular choice for most trips.
Comfort fare gives you the most checked baggage in economy, plus better seat selection and more flexible changes.
If you travel light, Lite saves you money. If you check bags, Classic or Comfort usually costs less than buying extra baggage separately.

Can I bring a laptop bag or purse on Qatar Airways?

Business and First Class passengers can bring two cabin bags with a combined total weight of 15 kg.

Does Qatar Airways offer extra baggage for students?

On weight concept routes you receive an extra 10 kg of checked baggage. On piece concept routes like flights to the Americas you get one additional free checked bag.
The program is free to join for students aged 18 to 30. You also get fare discounts, free date changes and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Economy Classic includes 25 kg total or 2 pieces of 23 kg each, and Economy Comfort includes 35 kg total or 2 pieces.

My carry-on is slightly over the 7 kg limit on Qatar Airways — will they charge me?

Qatar Airways may check cabin bag size and weight at check-in or the boarding gate, especially during peak travel periods.
If your bag exceeds the allowance, it may need to be checked into the hold and additional baggage charges may apply.
Weighing and measuring your bag before arriving at the airport is recommended to avoid unexpected fees.

What is the maximum size for checked luggage?

On weight-concept routes each checked bag must not exceed 300 cm when you add together the length, width and height.
On piece-concept routes serving Africa and the Americas the limit is 158 cm linear per bag.
Any bag that exceeds the applicable size limit may be refused at check in or charged an oversized baggage fee at the airport.

Every infant ticket includes one baby stroller, car seat or collapsible carrycot that can be checked in completely free of charge. You can choose one of these items per infant.
A carrycot or infant bassinet is also available on board for longer flights and can be requested in advance through the airline.
Collapsible strollers can often be dropped off right at the aircraft gate and returned to you immediately after landing.
