Transited through Wattay International Airport on my way to Hanoi. Security follows the standard 100 ml liquid rule for carry-on luggage. I had my small toiletries in a clear plastic bag and they went through quickly. Duty free items are fine as long as they stay sealed in the original bag with receipt. Smooth and quick security process at VTE.
Booked the Saving fare from Vientiane to Bangkok and had 20 kg of checked baggage included. My bag was 19.5 kg so I was within the limit. The Easy fare would have been cheaper but it comes with zero checked baggage so Saving was definitely worth it for me. Business class gets 30 kg which is quite generous.
Flew Lao Airlines from Vientiane to Luang Prabang in economy class. My 7 kg carry-on bag measured 60 cm long and fit fine in the overhead bin. Nobody weighed it at the gate and the staff at VTE were pretty relaxed. The 115 cm total linear limit is a bit unusual but my standard bag worked without any issues.
