Flew Garuda from Jakarta to Denpasar in economy class. My 55cm carry-on weighed about 6.5 kg and fit fine in the overhead bin. Nobody weighed it at the gate but they do have sizers at check-in. Just stay under 7 kg and you should be fine.
Took Garuda from Jakarta to Singapore on economy comfort. My checked bag came to 32 kg which was 2 kg over the 30 kg allowance. Paid the excess weight fee at the counter. Next time I'll pack lighter or use the GarudaMiles extra allowance.
