Frequently Asked Questions

Does Emirates check if my carry-on bag is under 7 kg?

Emirates allows 1 cabin bag in Economy Class, maximum dimensions 55 × 38 × 22 cm, up to 7 kg. Premium Economy passengers get a 10 kg allowance, and Business and First Class passengers may bring two items including a briefcase.
No separate personal item is included in Economy Class.
All dimensions include wheels, handles and pockets.

Is the 25 kg checked baggage limit per person or per bag on Emirates?

Economy Saver includes 25 kg total checked baggage weight across all bags on most routes using the weight concept. Each individual bag must not exceed 32 kg.
Maximum linear dimensions are 203 cm per piece on weight concept routes.
On flights to and from the Americas and Africa, the piece concept applies instead with 2 bags up to 23 kg each and 150 cm linear per piece.
Extra bags or excess weight incur additional charges.

My carry-on is slightly over the 7 kg limit on Emirates — will they charge me?

Emirates may check bag size and weight at check-in or the boarding gate. Enforcement varies by flight and staff.
If your bag exceeds the allowance, it may need to be checked into the hold and additional charges may apply.
Measuring and weighing your bag before arriving at the airport is recommended to avoid unexpected fees.

How much does Emirates charge for excess baggage?

On weight concept routes, extra weight is charged per kilogram at the airport, from USD 15 to USD 50 per kg depending on the zone. For example, Europe to the Middle East or South Asia costs USD 25 per extra kg.
On piece concept routes to and from the Americas and Africa, an extra bag costs from USD 100 to USD 300 depending on the route. A bag between 23 kg and 32 kg costs a USD 75 overweight fee, and oversize bags over 150 cm linear cost USD 175.
Buying extra allowance online up to 4 hours before departure saves 50 to 60 percent on weight and 35 to 50 percent on extra pieces compared with airport rates.

What is the Emirates baggage allowance for infants and strollers?

Infants under two years get one cabin bag up to 55 × 38 × 22 cm and 5 kg, plus checked baggage of 10 kg on weight concept routes or one piece up to 23 kg on flights to and from the Americas and Africa.
One fully collapsible stroller, carrycot, or infant car seat is carried free of charge. It can go in the cabin if there is space, otherwise it is checked into the hold at no cost.
Baby milk and baby food are exempt from the 100 ml liquid limit, but airport security officers make the final decision at the checkpoint.

How much checked baggage do Emirates Flex and Flex Plus fares include?

On weight concept routes, Economy Flex includes 30 kg and Flex Plus includes 35 kg of total checked baggage, compared with 20 kg for Special and 25 kg for Saver.
On piece concept routes to and from the Americas and Africa, Flex and Flex Plus get the same allowance as Saver, which is 2 bags up to 23 kg each.
Economy Saver increases to 30 kg for journeys originating from Australia or New Zealand, and for journeys from Europe to Australia or New Zealand.

How many bags can I check on Emirates flights between the US and Europe?

On flights within the Americas and on flights between the US and Europe, Economy Special and Saver fares include only 1 bag up to 23 kg, not 2.
Flex and Flex Plus fares include 2 bags up to 23 kg each on these routes, and Business and First Class include 2 bags up to 32 kg each.
Each bag on these routes must stay within 150 cm linear dimensions.
